Jeffrey Toppel is recognized as a leading practitioner in the area of labor and employment law, representing employers of all sizes in a wide variety of industries throughout Arizona, Nevada and nationally. Jeffrey regularly works with his employer clients to provide timely and proactive advice to maintain an issue-free workplace.
Jeffrey also represents employers in a wide range of litigation matters ranging from the defense of discrimination and wrongful termination claims to non-compete litigation. As part of his litigation practice, Jeffrey has handled appeals before the Arizona Court of Appeals and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Additionally, Jeffrey regularly defends employers before various state and federal agencies. Over the past two decades, Jeffrey has represented numerous employers before the National Labor Relations Board defending employers in dozens of unfair labor practice hearings. As a result, Jeffrey has developed a deep knowledge in defending claims in the expanding area of protected, concerted activities in the union and non-union workplaces.
In addition to his employment practice, Jeffrey also has experience in administrative law having served as the General Counsel of the Arizona State Personnel Board for several years.
With his deep knowledge of emerging labor and employment issues, Jeffrey is regularly sought after by his clients to provide strategic advice on personnel and labor relations issues and to conduct supervisory training. He regularly presents to human resources and other industry and professional groups, including the Arizona Society of Human Resources Management where he previously served as AzSHRM’s Government Affairs Director. Jeffrey is also a past chair of both the Arizona State Bar and Maricopa Bar Association’s Labor and Employment sections. He currently serves as legal counsel to the Board of Directors for the Arizona Industry Liaison Group.

When not spending time with his family, Jeffrey can be found aggressively cheering (often with one or more of his sons) for his beloved Chicago Cubs, hiking the great trails of Arizona, or finding live music.
